Our local town council is considering a moratorium on building while the current land use plan is updated. It seems that the timing couldn’t be worse. Visitors and residents alike agree that our town is a great place to live, work and play. It didn’t get this reputation by discouraging progress. In our local tri-town area, our town has always espoused the character of wisdom and authenticity. Presently, it is a town of opportunity. That attitude will likely evaporate if developers and business owners are forced to look elsewhere.
In the next few years, the entire state will continue to grow. There are already numerous regulations in place which will safeguard our water and natural resources. We need only build in a sustainable way. Everyday, I am made aware of more and more people who take these concerns to heart, including property owners and developers. We all have to step up to the plate and make wise choices for our town and our world. In time, our lifestyles will reflect our good judgment, but only if we have the chance to make changes for the better.
