It seems that the timing couldn’t be worse. Visitors and residents alike agree that our town is a great place to live, work and play. It didn’t get this reputation by discouraging progress. In our local tri-town area, our town has always espoused the character of wisdom and authenticity. Presently, it is a town of opportunity. That attitude will likely evaporate if developers and business owners are forced to look elsewhere.

In the next few years, the entire state will continue to grow. There are already numerous regulations in place which will safeguard our water and natural resources. We need only build in a sustainable way. Everyday, I am made aware of more and more people who take these concerns to heart, including property owners and developers. We all have to step up to the plate and make wise choices for our town and our world. In time, our lifestyles will reflect our good judgment, but only if we have the chance to make changes for the better.

It will be a town within a town here in Southern Pines

545 Bennett Street has us all excited at Anderson Architecture. It's a downtown project we are designing to meet the needs and wants of the future Southern Pines residents, retailers and professionals.

The “green” concept, and all that the idea entails, of living within walking distance of restaurants, shops, and services is turning out to be a big hit with folks of several generations—from Baby Boomers to Gen Y’ers.

The design includes elevators in most of the townhouses with an optional elevator in the smallest unit. Roof terraces on all townhouses and penthouse units will make you feel like you’re living in a treehouse. What a great getaway space without leaving your pad!

545 Bennett Street surrounds a garden that will provide a beautiful park-like setting for the townhouses that are inboard. The homeowner’s association will be responsible for landscape maintenance, freeing up the homeowners to enjoy their green space without the burden of weekend mowing and weeding.

In the near future we are going to have a very nice small-town neighborhood right in the heart of Southern Pines.
